SUMMARY:Australian Poultry Science Symposium 2025 (Annual event\, 36th edition)
DESCRIPTION:The Australian Poultry Science Symposium (APSS) is the premier avian science conference in Australasia and attracts delegates from right across the country and around the World. Each year (usually in February)\, APSS is collaboratively organised by the University of Sydney – Poultry Research Foundation and the World’s Poultry Science Association – Australian Branch\, with an organising committee also assembled to include key industry stakeholders. The symposium is renowned for is vast array of industry relevant science and also for the excellent opportunities it affords the next generation of poultry scientists. \nAPSS 2025 will be the 36th edition of the symposium\, and will be held at a new venue\, The University of Sydney – Abercrombie Business School. Our organising committee has again elected for the event to remain exclusively FACE-TO-FACE again next year\, however we continue to explore the possibility of offering a virtual recorded version\, which would be released at the conclusion of the conference\, allowing anyone who could not attend the in person to review the presentations and discussions. \nThe official scientific program will commence from lunch-time on Monday\, with check-in for the event opening from 9am Monday morning. This allows delegates time to fly into Sydney on Monday\, attend to emails/business calls pre-event and also socialise prior the symposium opening. Morning tea and lunch will still be included for all delegates on Monday. It is also important to note that due to the midday start on Monday\, our contributing authors will be presenting through to late afternoon on Wednesday. \nThe over-arching theme of APSS 2025 will be: “Enhancing productivity through resilience”. DESCRIPTION:Compuesto por las principales asociaciones sectoriales\, empresas y profesionales de reconocido prestigio del sector agropecuario\, el Comité Organizador de la Feria Internacional para la Producción Animal se reunió el pasado 1 de febrero 2024 en el Palacio de Congresos de Zaragoza para trabajar en la estrategia de la próxima edición de 2025. \nA lo largo de la reunión se presentaron las acciones que se van a llevar a cabo hasta la celebración del certamen\, en materia de comunicación\, promoción o internacionalización.\n\nTambién se destacó la mejora de la plataforma de visitantes\, la cual va a permitir conocer más al target para realizar acciones enfocadas a cada perfil. Sumado a esto\, están las mejoras en la APP\, como la usabilidad de los bloques\, la funcionalidad de los contactos y la herramienta MIXIE. \nTambién se explicó la organización de reconocimientos\, tales como el Concurso de Novedades y Mejoras Técnicas que tiene como objetivo destacar los productos desarrollados por aquellas empresas del sector que invierten en I+D+I\, manifestando su aportación tecnológica\, innovación\, y resultado en cuanto a las necesidades del mercado. \nFIGAN también trabaja para incrementar la presencia de grupos de compradores internacionales y profesionales extranjeros\, a través de sus misiones comerciales internacionales y acciones de promoción en diferentes países de los cinco continentes. \nPor otro lado\, se han creado grupos de trabajo interno para desarrollar los aspectos clave del certamen\, desde las jornadas técnicas y actividades paralelas\, la gestión del visitante o la estrategia de comunicación\, hasta la gestión integral de servicios. \nEs crucial destacar que FIGAN se distingue de manera significativa por la exhibición de animales vivos\, gracias a FEAGAS\, entre otras asociaciones y organizaciones de productores\, ofreciendo a los participantes una experiencia inigualable para conocer de cerca las últimas innovaciones y avances en la cría y manejo de animales. La presencia de animales vivos no solo enriquece la experiencia de los asistentes\, sino que también subraya el compromiso de la feria con la práctica ganadera sostenible y la mejora genética\, todo ello con un las necesarias garantías de bienestar animal.\n\nAsimismo\, la alta calidad de las jornadas técnicas es un pilar fundamental del certamen\, proporcionando un espacio propicio para la actualización y el intercambio de conocimientos entre profesionales del sector agropecuario. Las sesiones técnicas\, enfocadas en temas relevantes y de vanguardia\, consolidan a la feria como un referente educativo\, brindando a los participantes la oportunidad de profundizar en cuestiones técnicas\, científicas y prácticas que impactan directamente en la eficiencia y sostenibilidad de la producción animal. Es oportuno destacar que las últimas ediciones de FIGAN han contado con la celebración de alrededor de 50 jornadas técnicas de la máxima calidad\, con miles de asistentes profesionales inscritos. \nFIGAN no solo busca mantener su posicionamiento como un referente en el sector agropecuario\, sino que también se esfuerza por ser un espacio innovador\, internacional y de relevancia tecnológica. DESCRIPTION:The 15th International Seminar on Poultry Pathology and Production is celebrated from August 18-22\, 2025\, at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens\, Georgia\, hosted by the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. The seminar focused on advancements in avian influenza vaccines\, mobile testing units\, and other key areas of poultry health and production\, drawing over 250 specialists primarily from Latin America. The event featured lectures in both English and Spanish\, continuing a global collaboration tradition started by Dr. Pedro Villegas in 1983. \nThe event\, held every four years\, grew from two small courses hosted by Dr. Pedro Villegas in 1983 for Spanish colleagues. Villegas\, a native of Colombia\, retired from a distinguished career in the CVM\, where he discovered the Villegas-Glisson/Georgia (VG/GA) strain of Newcastle disease and developed a vaccine to protect poultry.
