15th International Seminar on Poultry Pathology and Production (Georgia, USA)

The 15th International Seminar on Poultry Pathology and Production is celebrated from August 18-22, 2025, at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia, hosted by the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. The seminar focused on advancements in avian influenza vaccines, mobile testing units, and other key areas of poultry health and production, drawing over 250 specialists primarily from Latin America. The event featured lectures in both English and Spanish, continuing a global collaboration tradition started by Dr. Pedro Villegas in 1983.

The event, held every four years, grew from two small courses hosted by Dr. Pedro Villegas in 1983 for Spanish colleagues. Villegas, a native of Colombia, retired from a distinguished career in the CVM, where he discovered the Villegas-Glisson/Georgia (VG/GA) strain of Newcastle disease and developed a vaccine to protect poultry.
